Power Transmission Products for Wood Processing Industry
Dixie Industrial Sales: The power transmission solution to the harsh environments of your lumber mill. From pine, hardwoods, mulch and pellet mills, crate and basket manufacturers, to Yellawood treatment plants, we are the experience you need.
The Lumber industry is harsh on power transmission equipment. Extreme temperatures mixed with an open-air environment and the acidic nature and tackiness of wood resin cause equipment to fail resulting in more downtime in your plant. Dixie Industrial and our team are well versed in the demands of the lumber industry and we are equipped to provide you with the best quality power transmission components built to withstand the harshness of your sawmill, pellet mill, mulch manufacturing, and treatment plants.
Lumber Mill
Lumber mills specialize in turning whole logs into usable boards. This is a demanding process from start to finish. From the time a log is placed on the conveyor belt and enters the mill to the sorting and grading of the lumber, we supply the power transmission components for all of it.
- MOR oil-resistant conveyor belts are made with an oil-protective coating to prolong the life of your belt against the acidic nature of lumber.
- Craft split bearings are used for easy access and installation limiting the downtime of changing parts.
- Timken or Moline Type E bearings for your heavy-duty head pulleys
- CKD and Coil Hose Filter Regulator and Lubricators for pneumatic systems
- Roller, drag, and engineered class chains can be added with custom lug attachments for sorting and treating lumber.
Treatment Plants
Wood Treatment plants are the process of pressure treating woods to withstand different environments. The lumber enters a cylinder on a tram often times pulled by chain on track rollers. This is a process requiring specially treated chain and track rollers that can not only withstand the load of the lumber but also the chemicals used for treatment.
- We have worked with manufacturers to design special Track or Tram Rollers specifically for pressure treatment applications. These rollers are specially made with extended shoulders and loaded with extreme grease to extend the life of the roller under high heat and pressure.
- Daido's 53R and 140 chains as well as other drag and engineered class chains are used in pressure treatment applications to load the boards and pull the tram into the cylinder for treatment.
- Sprockets - with chain comes the sprockets to turn the chain. Martin Sprockets is an American-made sprocket manufacturer with locations all over the US to provide our customers with the highest quality sprockets. These can come in any bore size and a range of bushing styles as well as bored to size.
- Pillow Blocks and Flange Blocks are used to support the shafts for the chain and sprockets to turn on. With both import and domestic mounted bearing partners, we can provide bearings with set screw locking collars, eccentric locking collars, and additional locking mechanisms for your applications.
Lumber by-product mills
Mills that use by-products from saw mills such as mulch and pellets face some of the same hardships as a saw mill and require many of the same products needed to run smoothly.
