Drum Pulleys & Wing Pulleys
From Drum pulleys, wing pulleys, Lagged Head Pulleys, mine duty pulleys, and so much more, we have everything you need to drive the lightest to the heaviest conveyors in a wide range of applications. Between Superior Industries' large success in the mining industry to PPI's global impact in lumber, aggregate, packaging, and food processing, we have you covered in all areas of your conveyor drivers.

Wing Pulleys
Wing pulleys are made to assist in belt cleaning. They are known to have intermittent contact with the conveyor belt which produces impact and helps dislodge material and prevent material buildup. Wing pulleys come in a variety of options with each one having its own unique benefits
- Heavy Duty Wing Pulley - The classic self cleaning wing pulley expels material
- Herringbone Wing Pulley - For applications where the traditional wing pulley suffers from excess material lodging and wing failure
- Grain Herringbone Wing Pulley - Combines benefits of the standard herringbone wing pulley but allows for a quieter operation
- Mine Duty Wing Pulley - Heavy duty construction to reduce potential for metal fatigue
- Spiral Wing Pulley - Allows for continuous belt contact to give way for a quieter application with less vibration
- Boot Herringbone Wing Pulley - Perfect for grain applications and proximity or heat sensors
Drum Pulleys
Drum Pulleys - typically crowned to aid in belt tracking, can serve in a variety of roles.
- Head - Head pulleys are typically lagged in smooth, chevron, herringbone, diamond, ceramic, arrowhead, or urethane lagging to provide traction for the belt. The type of lagging used is determined by the belt thickness, and material conveyed, belt speed, and other specifications.
- Return - Return rollers are at the tail end of the conveyor belt. Some applications, like those in agriculture especially, may prefer using a self cleaning wing pulley for their return roller.
- Tensioning - Tensioning pulleys are all about position. They can be used as a bend tensioning or a snub tensioning and are used in especially long conveyor applications to prevent the belt from sagging. Keeping belt tension is important from both a maintenance standpoint as well as efficiency in moving product.
- Take-Up - In some applications, adding a weighted drum pulley for take-up is preferred over using a take up frame especially in parcel conveyor applications. They act as both a tensioner and a take-up in these applications.
